Norwich City alongside Premier League pair in pursuit of MK Dons starlet

According to a report from the Mirror, Championship title hunters Norwich City are interested in signing Milton Keynes Dons starlet Recoe Martin.

Milton Keynes Dons starlet Recoe Martin is catching the eyes of a number of potential suitors, with Championship side Norwich City joining Premier League duo Newcastle United and Southampton in pursuit of the youngster.

The report from the Mirror dubs Martin as the “new Dele Alli” – obviously given his potential and the fact he plays for MK Dons.

The young forward has been catching the eyes while playing for MK Dons’ Under-18s side so far this season, netting prolifically in the club’s youth games. His five-star performance against Leyton Orient’s Under-18s recently caught the eyes of suitors, netting all five goals in just 17 minutes as MK Dons’ youngsters came back from 2-0 down to win 5-2.

Not only is Recoe Martin’s great potential a reason for the strong interest in his signature, but he is not yet on a professional contract with the League Two side, meaning that he could leave on the cheap with interested clubs only having to cough up for a compensation package.

Since the arrival of Daniel Farke as manager of Norwich City at Carrow Road, the Canaries have blooded several youth academy players into their first-team picture. Youngsters Jamal Lewis, Max Aarons and Ben Godfrey have all been frequent starters throughout the current Championship campaign.

Their impressive performances have seen them linked with moves to the Premier League, but they could be set for the top flight next season with Norwich, as they sit in 2nd place in the table on 72 points, one point behind leaders Leeds United with a game in hand.
