Peterborough United linked with move for £1m rated Scottish international defender

The Peterborough Telegraph are reporting Peterborough United are being linked with an unlikely move for Celtic defender Jack Hendry – who used to play in the Posh academy as a youngster.

Peterborough United are being linked with a move for Celtic defender Jack Hendry, as new manager Darren Ferguson looks to strengthen his side ahead of the second half of the League One season.

23-year-old Hendry started his youth career with current side Celtic, where he spent seven years before moving south of the border to join the Academy of Peterborough United. Hendry spent two years with The Posh before moving back to Scotland with Dundee United. After a year with Dundee United, the defender joined Partick Thistle, where he went on to make his breakthrough into the senior team.

Hendry made six appearances for Partick Thistle before joining Wigan Athletic. He spent one season with Wigan before joining both MK Dons and Shrewsbury Town on loan in 2016. The Scot then moved back to Scotland with Dundee, where he impressed and earned a move to Scottish giants Celtic. He has gone on to play 25 times for Celtic, playing in the Champions League qualification stages and earning his way into the Scottish national team.

Striker Jason Cummings’ loan spell at London Road has been cut short after he failed to have an impact on the side despite a strong start to the season, winning the League One Player of the Month award in August.

With that, it is believed that The Posh were keen to bring in another striker before the close of the transfer window. However, with the transfer window closing tonight, they will have to move quickly to bring in a new man.
